An advantage in Max Verstappen's favour: his teammate Yuki Tsunoda is in front of him by one place. He is unlikely to interfere with Red Bull's main man.

Interview Updates

Sky's internal discussion currently: the analyst is at the Mercedes team.

The analyst is jumping ahead to the 2026 season, speaking with the engineer about his stepping up to Aston Martin lead role.

Grid Details

Just sixteen vehicles on the grid. It was another bad qualifying for Lewis Hamilton: after coming 20th and last in Las Vegas, resulting in an eighth-place finish in the main race, he failed to advance of the first qualifying segment once more on the previous day. The team have as a result adjusted to his car configuration and so he will start from the starting area.

The team's Lance Stroll and the Alpine pair of Gasly and Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Racer Statements

"We'll use the learning for tomorrow," says Isack Hadjar, starting eleventh. There will be plenty of learning.

Team Standings

It's not all about the individual championship: The team have dominated the team championship but the team, with a forty-point advantage over their rivals, are aiming to secure the runner-up position this weekend. George Russell can assist in this goal from second place, and Antonelli will start just behind the leader.

Previous Results

Piastri was victorious then – as he managed the previous season, as well. McLaren's Australian is going for a third consecutive win.

Short Race Importance

Alright, just over twenty minutes remaining till the sprint race gets under way. Barring disaster, its main importance is as a preview of future events, rather than highly important in its itself, with only eight points awarded to the winner. However, the runner-up spot in this race was sufficient for the driver to become champion two years ago.

The driver claimed the championship after his teammate's accident of the short race.
